It’s All About the People: Practical Inspiration for Challenging Times
Creating healthier, more sustainable schools and colleges through best-in-class facilities management requires having the right tools and technologies, cultivating people who can drive transformation, and strategically aligning with the regulatory, voluntary, and institutional structures that shape facilities work.
To drive impact and create real change, institutions need a network of change champions who can sustain momentum and drive progress at every level. This involves having a top-down and bottom-up strategy aimed at not only implementing new policies, procedures, and activities, but also shifting the overall culture to drive adoption and acceptance of the changes.
The Summer Summit will offer opportunities for attendees to:
- Discuss the key challenges and opportunities related to championing health and sustainability,
- Engage various change champions necessary to enable lasting change, and
- Explore practical strategies to spark meaningful change even in resistance-oriented environments.
The Virtual Summit is open to K-12 and Higher Education facilities professionals and current program sponsors.

- 10:00-11:00AM CT: Welcome, Intros, Challenges and Opportunities for the 2025-2026 School Year
HSC will open the Summer Summit with a welcome, introductions, and brief program overview. We will then facilitate an open discussion with all participation in anticipation of the 2025-2026 school year. This forum provides a space for attendees to share their perspectives, challenges, and opportunities to be better prepared to navigate the complexities of the upcoming school year. - 11:00-12:00PM CT: Empowering Change Champions to Drive Impact
HSC will provide an overview of the various types of change champions, and their role in enabling change as one of 10 Factors Necessary to Achieve Efficient Operations, Enhanced Learning, and Healthy Green Schools. Participants are encouraged to invite team members to this session who they believe are key change champions for their program. Virtual breakout groups will be used to have structured conversations on how to successfully drive change within each of the champion roles, providing attendees with the most relevant content given their position on their team.
