HGSC Virtual Summer Summit 2025: Session 2

July 22, 2025
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

It’s All About the People: Practical Inspiration for Challenging Times

Creating healthier, more sustainable schools and colleges through best-in-class facilities management requires having the right tools and technologies, cultivating people who can drive transformation, and strategically aligning with the regulatory, voluntary, and institutional structures that shape facilities work.

To drive impact and create real change, institutions need a network of change champions who can sustain momentum and drive progress at every level. This involves having a top-down and bottom-up strategy aimed at not only implementing new policies, procedures, and activities, but also shifting the overall culture to drive adoption and acceptance of the changes.

The Summer Summit will offer opportunities for attendees to:

  • Discuss the key challenges and opportunities related to championing health and sustainability,
  • Engage various change champions necessary to enable lasting change, and
  • Explore practical strategies to spark meaningful change even in resistance-oriented environments.

The Virtual Summit is open to K-12 and Higher Education facilities professionals and current program sponsors.

Agenda

  • 10:00-11:00AM CT: From Initiative to Impact: Driving Culture Change Through Change Management
Participants will learn how intentional change management practices can be used to shift organizational culture and build sustained support. We’ll examine key strategies that help create a culture of acceptance, such as consistent communication, early engagement, and reinforcing accountability, and discuss how to identify and address sources of resistance. Attendees will learn how to create momentum, build trust, and increase adoption across all levels of an organization.
  • 11:00-12:00PM CT: Change Management Action Planning and Summit Closing
Participants will engage in structured breakout groups focused on identifying specific goals and next steps tailored to their roles as change champions. Through discussion and collaboration, participants will plan how they can influence adoption and support sustained change within their own contexts. The session will conclude with a large-group share-out of key takeaways and commitments, followed by closing reflections and next steps to carry the Summit’s momentum forward.
