The applicant pool for the 2015 Green Cleaning Award for Schools & Universities was robust, inspiring, and educational. Your applications taught us a whole lot about what’s happening on the ground in schools across the country, and we even learned of some new and exciting approaches to green cleaning along the way.
While the competition was stiff, a handful of schools really took their green cleaning efforts to new heights. We’re thrilled to announce the 2015 winners. These schools incorporated fresh approaches to traditionally complicated cleaning processes, innovative engagement practices to get staff and even students involved, and passionate commitment to health and sustainability. What’s more? These schools galvanized their communities around their green cleaning efforts. And, we believe their stories can galvanize other schools to do more for their cleaning programs, their facilities, the environment and their people.

A Great Year
Our Green Clean Schools program enjoyed a few other firsts in 2015. We hosted the first-ever Green Clean Schools Leadership Summit, where industry leaders and school representatives, including past winners from across the nation, got together in Seattle for two days of presentations, panels and discussion about how to move the green cleaning movement forward for schools everywhere.
2015 was our first full year with our Green Clean Schools Leadership Council. This is a group of past GCA winners who provide innovative and practical green cleaning guidance to schools on an individual basis in addition to guiding us on new developments in green cleaning. This dynamic group of experts has been connecting with school facility managers, and growing a whole new pool of future Green Cleaning Award winners in the process!
